Blocks 4 and 21 of this steep and exposed hillside vineyard were hand-picked at the first light of dawn on October 8, and optically sorted at the winery. The blocks were combined in gravity-fed tanks where they were cold-soaked for 3-5 days, co-fermented including a 26-day extended maceration and then the free run drained into barrels to complete fermentation.
Hailing from the red volcanic soils of Moon Mountain, this Cabernet Sauvignon embodies a beautiful dichotomy: power and complexity married with sophistication and elegance. This deep garnet-hued wine opens with lively aromas of purple mountain violets encased in dark black fruit and a touch of leather. A full entry coats the palate, bursting with lush flavors of ripe plum and black currant with accents of warm baking spices and sweet herbs. Broad tannins support a lingering finish accented with graphite and dark-roasted coffee. This wine is beautiful now but will age gracefully for at least 20 years.
